About Me
I'm Shirley Xu, a third-year illustration student at the School of Visual Arts in New York. I love drawing summer. What draws me isn't just how a season looks, but how it feels: slow, bright, a little lonely, and gentle. When people see my work, I want them to step inside and stay a while.
Alongside digital illustration, I also work in pixel art. The grain of pixels pushes me to rethink how every dot has to mean something within a limited grid, how to use very little to hold onto a feeling.
I work in Procreate and Aseprite, and I like taking a piece through the whole process from rough sketch to final render.
